19th Annual Dunn County Dairy Breakfast
June 2 – The 19th Annual Dunn County Dairy Breakfast will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Baier Creek Farms (near Eau Galle), E2493 South County Road P, Elmwood, WI 54740 from 7:00 am – 11:00 am. The annual dairy breakfast is sponsored by the Dunn County Dairy Promotion Committee.
Baier Creek Farms, Inc. near Eau Galle, Wis. has grown and changed over the past 155 years, but it has been operated by the same family since 1857. The Jack, Rodney and Charlie Baier families, of the Eau Galle/Elmwood area, received both the Century (100-year) and Sesquicentennial (150-year) Farm awards from the Wisconsin State fair in August, 2011. These awards are given to recognize Wisconsin families who have been in continuous ownership of their farms – in the Baier family, it totals to 155 years of ownership. John H. (Jack) Baier’s great-great-grandfather, Joseph A. Baier took possession of land in the town of Eau Galle Nov. 27, 1857. Today, Jack’s two sons, Rodney (Carole Jean) and Charlie (Kris) now own and operate Baier Creek Farms, Inc., along with Rodney’s son, Steve (Geri), and Charlie’s son, Trevor. Steve and Trevor are the sixth generation of Baier’s to work the farm.
Baier Creek Farms, Inc. has grown from an 80-cow dairy farm in the early 1970′s to a very successful 350-cow dairy farm and grain operation today.
The menu for the dairy breakfast will consist of: “All You Can Eat Dad’s Belgian Waffles” with flavored syrups, sausage, cheese curds, Swiss Miss pudding, ice cream, milk and coffee. The cost is $5.00, children under 5 are free.
Activities will include: Missouri Valley 4-H music performance, 4-H sponsored kid games, local church bake sale, petting zoo, The Milk Buds horse & wagon rides, antique car & tractor displays, agriculture educational displays and educational wagon ride tour of the farm.For more details and directions to the farm, click here: 2012 Dunn County Dairy Breakfast poster (pdf)
